Overview#

The Library (/library) holds reference documents (policies, manuals, reports) that the Assistant can answer from. Documents can be private (Only me) or shared with My team.

Purpose#

To let Ask answer questions from your organisation's own documents, with citations.

Who uses it#

Any signed-in user. Monthly document and page quotas depend on the plan.

Interface explanation#

  • Header: Ask and + Add. The quota line reads "0 of 200 documents · 0 of 3,000 pages this month" on the Team plan.
  • Filter: All · Mine · Team.
  • Document row: title, type · pages, and a status (Ready).
  • Document sheet: Ask about it, Read, Download, Rename, Only me / My team, Delete document.
  • Read view (/library/<id>): the document rendered by section, with Ask about it and Download original.

See it in action#

Adding the sample checklist, reading it and asking about it, recorded on the real app. The reading is sped up; the answer is the assistant's own, captured once.

Step-by-step, without the animation
  1. Step 1 Add a document to your Library

  2. Step 2 It is read once, then it is ready

  3. Step 3 Read it here, section by section

  4. Step 4 Ask about it; answers cite the page

How to use#

  1. Assistant → Library → Add a document.
  2. Choose the file, check the Title, choose Only me or My team → Add to Library.
  3. Wait for Ready (seconds for a one-page text file).
  4. Open it → Ask about it, and ask a question.

Example scenario#

A one-page synthetic "Digital Services Release Readiness Checklist" was added for My team. Asked "What must be true about document uploads before we can release?", the Assistant answered with three cited points: uploads succeed on 1 Mbps within 60 seconds, 7 of 8 test participants complete the upload unaided, and support is briefed a week before release.

Expected result#

The document counts against the monthly quota (1 of 200 documents, 1 of 3,000 pages) and answers cite it.

Important notes#

  • Statuses per source: Waiting → Reading → Indexing → Ready, or Couldn't read with a reason (password-protected, old Thaana font, over 300 pages, monthly pages used…). Only Adding… and Ready were seen. (Others VERIFIED THROUGH CODE, `lib/knowledge/`.)*
  • Rename, changing visibility, Retry and Delete were not exercised.
  • Quotas per plan come from supabase/migrations/0090_knowledge.sql (e.g. no plan: 5 documents / 25 MB / 100 pages).
