Transcript & speakers

Overview#

The Transcript tab shows who said what, with timestamps. You can correct any line in place, name speakers, and accept names that people said about themselves in the recording.

Purpose#

Transcription is never perfect, especially for names and numbers. Corrections here improve the minutes, decisions and actions built from the transcript.

Who uses it#

The meeting owner (editing is owner-only; minutes that are in review or approved lock speaker renames).

Interface explanation#

1. Copy / Share the transcript.
2. Transcript language: Original · ދިވެހި · English (line translation).
3. ● Following audio: the view follows the player.
4. Names said in the recording: suggestions such as "Hassan introduced as Hassan Ahmed ▶ 00:00", each with Use name or ✕ Not <name>'s name.
5. Speaker chip: opens the speaker menu.
6. Transcript line: "Tap any line to correct it. It saves by itself."

Speaker menu#

• Rename everywhere (shows how many lines, e.g. "3 lines").
• This line is someone else.
• Same person as… (merge two speakers).

How to use#

1. Open Transcript.
2. For each suggestion, press Use name if it is right, or ✕ if it is wrong.
3. For a wrong spelling, open the speaker chip → Rename everywhere → type the name → Save.
4. To fix words, click the line, edit, and click away. It saves automatically.

Example scenario#

The transcriber detected four speakers and their self-introductions:

• Hassan Ahmed: Use name accepted.
• Mariam → renamed everywhere to Mariyam Shifa (3 lines).
• Ibrahim Nazir: suggestion dismissed; renamed to Ibrahim Nazeer.
• Fathimath Raniya: Use name accepted.

The words "I am Mariam Shifa" and "Ibrahim Nazir" inside lines were then corrected by editing those lines.

Expected result#

Speaker chips update on every line. Edited text is still there after a page reload (VERIFIED THROUGH UI). The Minutes tab then shows "Transcript changed since these minutes were made. Update · free" (see Minutes).

Important notes#

• A transcript saved without speaker segments (e.g. the seeded sample meeting) shows as plain text without speaker chips.

  

• "This line is someone else", "Same person as…", and English/Dhivehi line translation were not exercised. (VERIFIED THROUGH CODE only.)
• If transcript editing is switched off on the server, the tab says "Editing the transcript isn't switched on yet." (VERIFIED THROUGH CODE)
