New meeting: record, capture, upload, join online

Overview#
/new is where every meeting starts. Four tabs offer four ways to get audio into Yaumiyya. They all end on the same Ready to transcribe card, except Join online, which sends a bot to the call.
Purpose#
To capture the conversation (in the room, on a call, from an existing file, or by sending a notetaker) and hand it to transcription.
Who uses it#
Anyone who runs or records meetings. Join online requires paid access (see Notes).

- Credits & price
- Record
- Capture call
- Upload file
- Join online
- Start recording
Interface explanation#
- Credits line: "660 credits available · 1 credit per minute · 2 while a bot is in the call".
- Record: records the room with this device's microphone.
- Capture call: records a Teams, Zoom or Meet call playing on this computer.
- Upload file: an existing recording.
- Join online: sends "Yaumiyya · Notetaker" into an online meeting.
- Tap to start recording (Record tab).
A consent line is always shown: "By recording or uploading, you confirm you have any consent needed to record, and agree to the Terms."
The four tabs#
Record#
Press the microphone button to start. The source defines Pause, Stop & review and an auto-stop limit. If the browser blocks the microphone the tab shows: "Microphone access was blocked. Allow the mic permission and try again."
Error state VERIFIED THROUGH UI. A recording is shown below, made in the real app with the browser's test microphone playing the sample meeting; it stops before Transcribe.
Step-by-step, without the animation
Step 1 Record the room with one tap
Step 2 The bars show it can hear everyone
Step 3 Pause and carry on whenever you need
Step 4 Stop, and it is prepared on your device
Step 5 Check it, name it, and transcribe it
Capture call#
Instructions on the tab:
- Choose Start capture.
- In the browser's window pick Entire Screen and tick the box that shares your computer's sound.
- Carry on with the meeting and come back to stop when it ends.
"Your screen is never recorded": the app keeps only the sound. Also record my microphone (on by default) adds your own voice. The tab exists only in browsers that support screen-audio capture (Chrome or Edge on a desktop, per the landing page). (UI VERIFIED. The capture below runs the app's real capture code; only the operating system's own share window, which a recording cannot show, was stood in for, as if Entire Screen and its sound were chosen.)
Step-by-step, without the animation
Step 1 Record a call on this computer, no bot needed
Step 2 Share your screen with its sound
Step 3 The call and your microphone, heard apart
Step 4 Stop when the meeting ends
Step 5 Then name it and transcribe it
Upload file#
Choose an audio file: "m4a, mp3, wav, webm or ogg · up to 50 MB · Review your audio before starting transcription". The file is converted in the browser first; then the Ready to transcribe card appears.
- Ready to transcribe · 3 credits and the length (2:49), with a player.
- Title (optional; placeholder "e.g. Weekly standup / ހަފްތާ ބައްދަލުވުން").
- Transcribe, Edit (opens Smart Audio Prep) and Discard.
Pressing Transcribe shows step captions ("Creating meeting…", "Uploading audio…", "Starting processing…"), then opens the new meeting page.
Join online#
| Field | Purpose | Required? | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paste meeting link | The Zoom / Google Meet / Microsoft Teams / Webex link | Yes | https://zoom.us/j/8123… | Non-meeting text shows "That does not look like a meeting link."; a valid link shows "Recognised: Zoom" |
| Minutes language | English or ދިވެހި headings for the minutes | Yes (default English) | English | "What people said always stays in the language they said it in." |
| Name it (optional) | Bot display name | No | Digital Services | Always ends with "· Notetaker" |
| Stop after | Most minutes the bot may stay | Yes (default 60 min) | 60 min | Sets aside 2 × minutes in credits; you pay only for minutes recorded |
Send Yaumiyya stays disabled until a meeting link is recognised. (Validation VERIFIED THROUGH UI. Sending the bot was deliberately NOT performed: it dispatches a real, billed meeting bot.)
Step-by-step, without the animation
Step 1 Send Yaumiyya to join an online meeting
Step 2 Paste the link; it knows the platform
Step 3 Choose the minutes language and a time limit
Step 4 See what it costs before it joins
Step 5 Send it, and let it in when it knocks
See it in action#
Uploading the synthetic recording and transcribing it, recorded on the real app. The upload and the transcription are sped up.
Step-by-step, without the animation
Step 1 Start a new meeting from a recording
Step 2 Choose the file; it is prepared on your device
Step 3 See the price, then give it a name
Step 4 Transcribe; you can leave the page
Step 5 The summary and transcript arrive by themselves
How to use (upload, the path tested)#
- New → Upload file → choose the file.
- Optionally Edit to trim silence; add a Title.
- Transcribe. You can leave the page; processing continues.
Example scenario#
digital-services-improvement-meeting.wav (2 min 49 s, four synthetic speakers) was uploaded, titled "Digital Services Improvement Meeting" and transcribed for 3 credits.
Expected result#
A new meeting opens at /m/<id> showing the processing card, then the finished tabs. See Processing & failures.
Important notes#
- Length limits (landing page FAQ, VERIFIED THROUGH UI as published text): 30 minutes per meeting until the account has paid for something; afterwards recordings up to 1 hour and uploads up to 2 hours. The converted file must fit the 50 MB limit.
- Join online needs paid access: on accounts that have never paid, the tab shows a locked panel ("Buy credits to unlock"). (VERIFIED THROUGH CODE; the QA account was on a plan, so it saw the unlocked form.)
- When opened from a series (
/new?series=<id>) the page shows Will be added to: <series> and files the meeting into that series. (VERIFIED THROUGH UI) - The source also defines recovery cards for unfinished on-device recordings (Recover / Save file / Discard). NOT VERIFIED (requires an interrupted recording).
- A 20-second clip showed "Ready to transcribe · 1 credits", a small grammar slip in the UI.
