Workflow 8: Handle a failed recording

Understand why a recording failed, get your credits back and recover: what each failure card means and which button to press.

Last updated 30 September 2026

  • Goal: understand why a recording failed and recover.
  • Performed in the browser: yes, with a 20-second near-silent clip.
  1. After Transcribe, the meeting page shows a failure card instead of the tabs: "We couldn't hear any speech — The recording is silent or too quiet to transcribe. Check the microphone, or that the right file was uploaded."
    Failure
  2. On Home the meeting carries a red Failed chip.
    Home
  3. Check Plan & credits → Credit activity: "Unsuccessful transcription refunded +1".
  4. Act on the card:
    • no speech / unreadable file / upload didn't finish: fix the source and upload again.
    • service busy / interrupted / incomplete transcript: press Retry (available for 24 hours while the audio is kept).
    • over the trial limit / not enough credits: Upgrade or Buy credits.

The full list is in Status reference → Failure reasons.

  5. Delete the failed meeting if you don't need it (the delete confirmation is cancellable).
